Capers Island Coastal Trip

  • Bishop Jerden Conference Center 8257 U.S. 17 McClellanville, SC, 29458 United States (map)

Do you love the ocean? Do you want to unplug for the weekend on an island? Join us for our Capers Island Adventure! We’ll be camping Friday night on the mainland coast near Charleston, then getting up Saturday for a sea kayaking trip out to Capers Island where we’ll backcountry camp overnight. It will be an unforgettable adventure! Click the button below to see more details and register to join us.

-For the coastal/ocean kayaking trip, participants must provide their own boat (12 ft+) and gear. Must have ocean kayaking experience or be a solid intermediate whitewater river kayaker.

-Must have backcountry camping knowledge/awareness for the overnight trip. It is remote: there are no bath houses, no electricity, no running water. Hammocks are the best and preferred camping setup.

-Kids may attend if they also have their own boat and gear, and possess the same level of kayaking experience and backcountry camping awareness.

*For anyone wanting to come on the trip, but not wanting to kayak in the ocean: they are welcome to take the ferry to Capers Island, spend the day at mainland camp, or spend the day in Charleston. They may camp at the mainland campground both Friday and Saturday night. If desired, they may take the ferry to Capers and camp with the group on Saturday, but would need to work out the details and timing on their own.
