It is tradition for Foothills Paddlers to take a day in the Summer to pause our busy lives and paddling frenzy to dedicate a day of club camaraderie. This happens at our Summer Social.
This year, we are doing things a little differently than in the past. Our club is based in Greenville, SC, and we wanted to help highlight a hidden gem of a river in the Upstate as well as its local businesses. We are going to come together on Saturday June 12th at the Saluda Outdoor Center. We will start the day at 10:30am at the SOC chatting with friends (old and new) about what adventures might lie ahead for the day.
Intro to Whitewater SUP Clinic with SUPState (register here - general whitewater paddling experience preferred, SUP experience preferred)
Tubing Adventure with Saluda Outdoor Center (visit their website to schedule your trip)
Rent a Sit-on-Top Kayak for your kids or significant others through Saluda River Rambler (visit their website to pre-arrange)
Flatwater Paddle on Saluda Lake (SUP/Kayak/Canoe)
Whitewater Kayaking (Class I-I+) on the Saluda River from the Dam to Dolly Cooper
All trips can take a garbage back to help with a River/Lake Clean-Up
After a day of fun on the Saluda we will come back together for a cookout at the Saluda Outdoor Center. FPC will provide hotdogs and hamburgers on the grill, please bring a side dish or dessert for a family-style potluck style together. BYOB, all beverages must be in cans (no glass) and in a cooler. We can also have a little fun with a rope throwing contest and maybe do some informal skills practice in the play wave for anyone who is interested.
